Our new meditation CD, Qi Gong for Radiant Health, is now ready to order. On this CD we guide you through simple meditations grounded in the wisdom of Chinese medicine, that will help you release toxic emotions that can accumulate in your body, mind, and spirit. Qi gong is the living and breathing dance of Chinese medicine that everyone can learn, literally giving you the opportunity to practice Chinese medicine on yourself.
What is Qi Gong?
Qi gong is also a spiritual science that uses sound, slow movements, and meditation to potentiate subtle health processes in our bodies which ultimately lead to greater and more radiant health. This is why Dr. Oz says if you want to live to be 100, practice qi gong. There is so much in modern life that can drive us all away from our true inner nature – stress, poor diet, poor sleep, emotional reactions, etc. Meditation and qi gong offer a great way to reduce the disruptive effects of modern life and begin to cultivate an inner sanctuary. This cultivation will help you not only withstand, but even feed off the stressors that might have previously sent you into a tail spin.
What Is Included on the CD
In Taoist practices, the five internal organs – heart, liver, spleen, kidneys, and lungs – constitute our inner soul team. They represent various intelligences within your body. Each of the five key organs have a resonance with specific colors and sounds. Colors, sound, and gentle movement provide a way to consciously communicate with and influence these organs in a positive way.
The 6 healing sounds, which are the focus of this CD, help us to expel toxins and imbalances from the various organs, as well as direct the flow of qi and blood through these internal organs. These sounds can help you release emotions and energy that has been stored in your organs, consuming useful energy, that can be then freed for other functions. Releasing accumulated energies in these organs helps promote health and well being, as well as internal harmony.
There are a total of 9 meditation tracks, the first of these will harmonize each of 3 energy centers – that include the lower dan tian an area of cultivation at your center of gravity, the heart, and the center of your brain. Next are sample meditations with each of the 6 healing sounds and a meditation that combines 2 sounds. Finally the last track will be a meditation that involves smiling to each of the 5 organs featured in tracks 3 through 7.
For each of the 5 organs, we offer a a simple and effective meditation in combination with the healing sounds for that organ. In addition we teach a 6th healing sound for the triple warmer. The triple warmer is not an organ represented in western anatomy but in Chinese medicine represents the connective tissue of the body which integrates and organizes the functioning of the other 5 organs. The 6 healing sounds release any imbalanced emotions you have stored that no longer serve you, as well as nourish and strengthen the 5 organ systems. We also share a 7th combination of sounds which can be also used for improved physical, mental, and emotional health. All of these 9 tracks will allow you to experience the richness of some of the Chinese internal medicinal practices.
A Sample Meditation
Click below for a sample excerpt from track 3, which is short sample of the lung organ meditation:
This is a very short sample of a longer and more comprehensive meditation aimed at clearing the lungs from any heaviness, grief, sadness or feelings of depression that may have accumulated over time. In Chinese medicine, there is a correspondence between depression and imbalanced lung qi. Working with the lung organs offers the opportunity to clear emotional blockages that can be affecting the health of the physical organ.
How to Apply the Meditations From the CD
In the CD materials, we provide a chart that illustrates the correspondences each organ with the healing sound, the color, the time of year, the time of day, and the emotions. You can use this chart to help guide you as to which meditation might be most appropriate for you. For example, if you are experiencing anger and frustration, then the liver sound might be the most appropriate meditation for you, because of correspondence between anger and imbalanced liver qi in Chinese medicine. Track 2 guides you through meditations to harmonize your 3 energy centers, this is an excellent way to begin any qi gong or meditation practice.
For those who would like more guidance determining which meditations will be most helpful (that might include other movement and meditation practices), both Michele and Andres offer individual consultations in medical qi gong.
